Mansa, December 11

The gunman of Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh allegedly shot other gunman accidentally during a wedding function at Royal Green palace in Mansa last night. The gunman who fired shots has been identified as Navjot Singh. After the shot was fired, a man got injured who was admitted at Civil Hospital Mansa for treatment and later referred to a hospital in Bathinda.

The police said that Navjot Singh is the gunman of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh, who had taken leave to attend the marriage function. The police also said that as per preliminary investigations it has come to the fore that the gunman had no “ill-intention” and that the bullet got fired from the gun “accidentally”.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Goel said, “The wedding function was at the Royal Green Palace. Navjot Singh accidentally fired a bullet which hit Gurwinder Singh, who got injured. After initial treatment at Civil Hospital, Gurwinder was referred to a hospital in Bathinda for further treatment. We are investigating the matter and have registered a case against Navjot Singh.”

Later in the afternoon Station House Officer of Mansa police station confirmed that the man who sustained bullet injury is also a gunman of Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh.

It is pertinent to mention here that there is a ban on carrying weapons in marriage palaces by Punjab police and district magistrate but still the gunman managed to take the gun. The incident has evoked angry response from public on social media.
